We got a little bit of a late start on the way to the party, which proved to be a good thing, because as we were on our way out to party, the location got swapped. Heading out to the Sun Valley Parkway location, we bounced to some good tunes and ended up getting there before almost anybody else did.
I was a lil worried about attendance at first, but once sound arrived and things were underway, I was able to breathe easy and relax. The night was pretty dark at first, the lights not being set up for a little while after the sound, and even once things got going, it wasnt as lit as I expected.
The attendance, while not amazing, was actually pretty good for a desert party. I kinda wish the fire would have stayed going because it got a little bit chilly towards the end of the evening. I guess it’s a good time Marissa actually wore clothes this time (hey SHE pointed it out to ME!) I got to hang out with a few of my buddies for a while and introduce a few old buddies to Chelsea, my new girlfriend. She’s really sweet and won’t bite I promise… and yes… it is ok to talk to me while she’s around heh.
I spent some time dancing around the d&b stage and got to hear it most as my table was closest to it. MC Shells was amazing, flowing all night without missing a beat. I also got to hear Quentin throw down for a while which made me happy in the pants… Made an animated gif of him while I was at it…. seeing that cat drop wax always tickles my fancy. A few times during the evening I wandered over to the stage positioned in front of the drop off into the sand and caught some of the hard dance DMS was playing. This guy can really blow it up and I could hardly stand still through some of the energetic tracks he dropped.
I wasn’t super stoked about the idea of a desert party at first, but ended up having a good time. I tend to have a pretty decent time at desert parties, but the insect life is what really turns me off to them. Luckily the temperature hadn’t risen to the point that they were out and about very frequently.
So, the images are up in the gallery and as always, if you see me at a party, feel free to grab me and request a shot!
Here’s the gif of Quentin:
